Toxicity studies (drug candidates, bioimaging agents, pesticides etc.) on mice and rats
Acute toxicity (immediate effects as the first characteristics of the substance): 1-14 days, oral or parenteral route of administration, single or multiple dosing, dose range;
Chronic toxicity (cumulative, delayed effects): usually 15-28 days (terms can be prolonged up to 3 months), oral or parenteral route of administration, multiple dosing.
Efficacy studies, oral, parenteral or topical route of administration, single or multiple dosing:
acute kidney injury (mice, rats) – cisplatin-induced, 4 days of model development, 10 days of treatment;
inflammatory bowel disease: acute (acetic-induced, rats) – 1 day of model development, 4 days of treatment; chronic (acetic-induced (rats), DSS-induced (mice)) – 14-35 days, model development is in parallel with the treatment;
hepatitis (acetaminophen-induced, mice): acute – 1 day of model development, 3 days treatment; chronic – 28 days, model development is in parallel with the treatment;
xenografted tumors (mice): 5-10 days of tumor development, 14-21 days of treatment (terms can vary depending on the features of used cancer cell line);
skin injuries – wounds, burns (rats): 1 day of model development, up to 21 days of treatment (terms can vary depending on injury background)
Hematological analysis – allows to discover the inflammatory processes, impact on hemopoiesis, systemic toxicity of the substances;
Biochemical analysis (blood serum) – allows to discover the specific impacts on kidney (Urea, Creatinine measurements) and liver (ALT, AST, LDH, GGT, ALP, bilirubin measurements) and to assess it quantitatively;
Histopathology – allows to discover in detail the impact of tested substance on main vital organs under health or pathology background, peculiarities of pathology development, inflammation, tissue regeneration and adaptation; even minor changes in the tissues caused by tested substance can be uncovered. Specific staining, morphometry can be applied on demand. Microphotographs are provided;
ICP-MS – to determine the elements in whole blood, plasma and tissues.
